CHECKED AGAINST THE ORIGINAL FILES

Every served value for 2022-23, 2024-25 was re-read from the source file by independent code: 937 of 937 cells agree exactly, 0 disagree, 0 withheld by the publisher on both sides. Per-cell report.

Definition

'Percent of Total Possible Points' from the School Grades file — the number the A–F letter is cut from.

  • The school's total points earned divided by total points possible under the state's grading formula, as published in the School Grades file. Percent of points is what the state uses to assign the letter.

What is served

  • Years: 2018-19, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25
  • 2,302 school-year cells across 489 schools; 0 stored as suppressed (publisher withheld)
  • 2,121 cells carry a peer-group percentile (all-students rows of schools with a peer group)

What it cannot show

  • The number of components differs by school type (elementary schools have fewer), so the percent is comparable across schools of one type, not across types.

Comparability across years

  • Florida replaced the FSA with the FAST progress-monitoring assessments in 2022-23 and reset the achievement scales; 2022-23 is a new baseline and results before it are not on the same scale. No grades were issued for 2019-20. In 2020-21 districts could opt in to grades under Emergency Order 2021-EO-02; that exceptional year is excluded here.
  • The state changes cut points and component rules periodically; the percent of points is comparable within a rule set, and the letter is comparable across rule sets only in the loose sense that each letter has the same policy consequences.

How it was checked

Every served number runs through the four-check taxonomy described on the methodology page: (i) completeness, (ii) an exact re-read of the file by independent Python, (iii-b) a second publisher where one exists, (iv) recomputation of derived values.

(ii) Base case — outcomes track

In the ratings

Schools are ranked on this metric within their peer group (40 nearest schools on demographics and size, same level, sector and magnet status) and district-wide, with the rank inverted where lower is better so a high percentile always means a better outcome. See outliers and movers for this metric, and the ratings overview for how peer groups are built.
