Definition

Federal uniform four-year adjusted-cohort graduation rate (standard diplomas; GEDs excluded). Year = the year the cohort graduated.

  • The federal uniform four-year adjusted-cohort graduation rate: students who entered grade 9 four years earlier (plus transfers in, minus verified transfers out) who earned a standard diploma. GEDs and certificates of completion do not count. The year stored is the year the cohort was due to graduate.
  • Subgroup rates (race, disability, economic disadvantage, English learner, sex and others) are stored under the same key with the subgroup tag; the harness checks the all-students rate.

What is served

  • Years: 2018-19, 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25
  • 3,781 school-year cells across 163 schools; 1,624 stored as suppressed (publisher withheld)
  • Subgroups: all, amer indian ak native, asian, at risk, black, econ disadv, ell, female, hawaiian pac isl, hispanic, male, migrant, swd, two or more races, white
  • 1,593 cells carry a peer-group percentile (all-students rows of schools with a peer group)

What it cannot show

  • The state suppresses cohorts under 10 students, which removes most alternative and small charter schools and many subgroup rows.
  • Rows the state keys to a virtual-provider number are not loaded, so students served by district virtual programs are not attributed to a school here.

Comparability across years

  • The cohort definition has been stable since 2010-11; only the cohort year changes.

How it was checked

Every served number runs through the four-check taxonomy described on the methodology page: (i) completeness, (ii) an exact re-read of the file by independent Python, (iii-b) a second publisher where one exists, (iv) recomputation of derived values.

(ii) Base case — outcomes track

In the ratings

Schools are ranked on this metric within their peer group (40 nearest schools on demographics and size, same level, sector and magnet status) and district-wide, with the rank inverted where lower is better so a high percentile always means a better outcome. See outliers and movers for this metric, and the ratings overview for how peer groups are built.
